It is well known that collectors do not like very much to lend out their items. One of the reasons is that items can easily disappear. It does not mean though, that somebody purposely does not want to return items, but both the owner and the debtor forget about them. One of the authors remarked, that after his collection of video discs increased to about 100 items, it became impossible to increase this quantity, since along with buying of new discs some of the old ones completely disappeared. In SmartItems a special functionality is provided which helps to solve this problem.
There are menu items for work with debtors: , and corresponding icons are located on the toolbar . However, before calling these commands you should add information about the potential debtor to the 'People' folder. After that, by selecting an item in the item list you can: 'Give item' - fix the item loan, 'Return Item' - fix the period of return for the item, 'Prolong Item' - prolong the period of return. It is important, that if you have debtors (that is, you have fixed item loans), then you can use the category tree for searching the lent items. The window appearing during item loan registration is shown below:
In this window you can enter debtor's name, put down the loan date and planned due date. By default the loan date is the current date, and the due date is in a week later.
