The programs for database viewing under WinCE and Windows have similar interfaces. The description below relates to SIWinViewer interface. You can freely work and make experiments with these programs: they display only data and can damage nothing.

Program start

After the program start you will see the window shown below. If you click on the menu items before loading the database, error messages will appear. After opening the database you get at once to the 'Folders' section. Select the menu item 'Base\Open' to open the database. To work with WinCE you should upload the database to a PDA.

'Folders' section

To go to this section, click on 'Folders'. All folders in the database will be displayed. Make a single click on a folder to see its content. With a folder selected you can move around the database; this selection will be saved unless you select another folder. If you are in another section and forgot what folder you had selected, click on the 'Folders' menu item, and you will see that the folder selected by you is highlighted. Figures in brackets are quantities of items in folders. These numbers can be changed during the search and filter settings depending on found items.

'Records' section

To go to this window, click on 'Records'. If you don't see any records, then either the selected folder does not contain them, or you have not selected a folder. The elements can be simple or compound. The compound ones contain elements inside. That is why when you choose a compound element for viewing, you have two alternatives: to view its data or its elements. If the topmost element is a record "..", you are inside an item. Click on it to go out. In case you want to view the item fields, select 'View item' if the item is compound; if the item is simple, you will get to the data viewing dialog at once. You can go to the dialog 'Item data' only from 'Records'.

'Search' section

To go to this section, click on 'Search'. You can search either by category or by line, and you can also combine these two opportunities. To make this filter (search) work after all modifications, click on the button 'Apply'. After that you will get to 'Records', where all found records will be displayed. If nothing is displayed, then all records have been eliminated by the filter. Some folders from 'Folders' section can disappear at all, this happens in cases when there are no elements meeting the query conditions.
