CVS NT is a good project providing CVS server for Windows platform. CVS NT contain several improvements for CVS itself (support for Unicode files, MergePoint technology and so on), which make it the most modern CVS server. That is why back port to *nix platform is available now.
However, we receive too many requests (problems) from users of CVS NT server. Most of the problems are caused by some bugs in CVS NT, for instance, "duplicate-kb request" for binary files, "lock service unavailable" for local repositories and so on. Extremely active development of CVS NT is the bottom of the problem. Of course active development itself is not a problem, but the problem is very short "beta - release" stage. If you look into CVS NT history, you will find that versions get "stable" state very quickly, in less than a week. As a result, each "stable" version contains some problems which can become crucial for the plug-in.
So, we decided to test CVS NT on our side. We will perform general tests and tests for plug-in compatibility. Tested versions will be available for download from our web site, and we highly recommend you to use these versions. It is expected that "tested" versions will be "released" not as often as official CVS NT releases.
We hope that our free-of-charge work will help to increase commercial usage of CVS NT. Later we plan to take part in CVS NT development to achieve better integration with our plug-in and as result increase its speed.
