Using CVS SCC proxy with Microsoft Frontpage 2002

( CVSSCC , FrontPage, Latest, WIN 2000/XP, CVS NT 2.0.x  )

I am sorry, probably we should remove the FrontPage word from this
page. This was written when we thought that plug-in should work with
FrontPage. However right now I 100% sure that it not work with it.
The fact is that SCC system used not by the FrontPage itself, but with
IIS server. It have it's own implementation (simple) and can use
SourceSafe. Unfortunately it is not know through _which_ api IIS uses
SCC system. Also we not found any facts that say that any system
except SourceSafe can be used in IIS.
So, I am sorry again for such confusion. We will remove this from the
web page.
For you case I can suggest to use something other for this purposes,
like MS VS.NET (which can me complex for you) or HomeSite (which have
SCC support). With FrontPage you are mostly limited to IIS and
SourceSafe. There no alternative.

My company has been using FrontPage (currently using FrontPage 2002) for
several years with the built in check-in check-out feature. We have also
been using CVS NT server to control our Java development. We are
increasing the number of people who will update our Websites. So we thought
it would be advantageous to have Source Code Control for the websites. So
your CVS SCC proxy looked like a perfect choice for us. Especially since
http://www.pushok.com/soft_cvs.php specifically mentions FrontPage.

However I can't seem to get all the parts together. I found this webpage
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/sccvs70/html/veurfaddingfrontpagewebapplicationstosourcecontrol.asp
which describes how to connect SourceSafe to FrontPage 2002. It indicates
that FrontPage needs to be configured to use "external version control
(Visual SourceSafe only)". Well that option doesn't show, the directions of
course indicates what to do to SourceSafe to get that option to show. I
need to know what must be done with CVS SCC proxy for this option to show.
I hope there is a way for this to work as I really don't want to different
source control packages.
