Readonly flag & cvs edit -z

( CVSSCC , VS .NET, Latest, WIN 2000/XP, CVSNT 2.0.41a  )

Thank you. As I said in my previous message, you can close the ticket.

Yes we know problems around this that appears in CVS NT after
implementation of "gzip" options. Both the 2.0.41 and 2.0.51 have
incorrect behavior with this. 2.0.41 does not delete .gz file from
cvs/base after unedit, while 2.0.51 not makes something other (not
remember exactly what). For both things exist some workaround in
plug-in.
We submit this bug to CVS NT author, but he does not consider it
important, and more other claims that now he fully sponsored and work
on complete rewriting of this client behavior (for better support of
reserved checkout mode). So, I think this will remain as is, until
new version of CVS NT.
We are also now working on direct integration of client code into
plug-in (to achieve better performance) and may be this will be done
faster than new version of CVS NT.
In any case, we consider this option (gzip for base files) very nice,
since it prevent doubling of search results.

All users should be warned that the 2.0.51a client & server don't work that
great. The ticket I posted is a consequence of this fact.

I am now using 2.0.41a client with 2.0.51a server and things look better.
Everything seems to work for now.

The 51a client sometimes "forgot" to remove the readonly flag on files
after doing "cvs edit" and that happened no matter what flags edit had (-z
or not). So the previous ticket is not completely right.

Those CVSNT guys are really funny...

The readonly flag is not removed when performing a checkout (edit) with the
following settings (attachment 1) but works when the GZip is off
(attachment 2).
