Problem renaming files on Windows 2003 Server

( SVNSCC , VS .NET 2005, 1.4.5.7, W2K3  )

It is really strange. VS2005 usually calls rename dialog for c# projects,
but we didn't check it in Windows 2003 Server OS, perhaps it is one of
peculiarities of VS2005 working with this OS. Thank you very much for
indicating this peculiarity.

I perform a rename operation in the same Visual Studio project (c# class
library) from both a Windows XP and a W2K3 and get different behaviour.

Yes, you are right, but in part.
This behavior doesn't depend on OS, VS2005 for some types of project
invokes SCCAPI::RenameFile(), and for some not. So if VS2005 doesn't want
to rename files, use "rename monitor".
But if VS2005 works right, then "rename monitor" will invoke the error,
because this option is disabled on default.

Do you still have any issues?

In W2K3 enabling the option "Enable file rename monitor" really helps. The
only thing is that you have to remember to refresh the Visual Studio
Project in order to get correct status of renamed files.

In Windows XP you must remember not to enable the above option since it
conflicts with the rename-file dialog.

For .net projects in VS2005 "rename" should work anyway. If you use other
type of project in Windows 2003 Server then you need to enable option
"Pushok Proxy properties/SVN options/Enable file rename monitor" in plug-in
settings.

Hi!

I have problem renaming files in Visual Studio 2005 and SVNSCC 1.4.5.7.

In my Windows XP environment everything works fine.
The rename-file dialog appears asking if I want to rename both locally and
in the repository.

If I run in my Windows 2003 Server environment (on a virtual machine) the
rename-file dialog doesn\'t appear.
The consequences of this is that a new file with the new name is added to
the repository and the Visual Studio project.
But the old file remains in the repository however removed from the Visual
Studio environment.

Regards
/Henrik
