Integrating with Multi-Edit

( CVSSCC )
Type: Public Status:Closed Created: 24 Feb 04 02:00 Updated: 25 Feb 04 02:00

1. "Directory of archives" not work with SCCI integration even for
SourceSafe. Basically its is possible to implement it, but ME
developer for some reason not make this.
2. I not find ways to add entire folder or group of files from ME.
3. I also found, that ME have built in CVS integration, which can be
enabled when you:
a) deselect option "Use SCC provider"
b) select VCS package CVS
c) configure path to cvs.exe
But this integration also not good, and better to use other
standalone CVSGUI to manage initial import and initial pulling of
files. For you convenience you can configure "CVS GUI executable" in
our plugin, and then launch it from ME as "VSC\Run VCS interactivly"
Sorry, not think that I can help more with ME.

1. The ME help indicates that "Directory of archives..." will provide this
functionality. However, that menu option is disabled when using CVS Proxy.
I agree that the ME integration is poor but it is available and I'd like
to try to use it.

2. Using the "put" command will only put the CURRENT file. For the first
time, I would like to "put" all files related to the project (within a
directory structure and including subdirectories). How is that done?
--> Igor Pushkov (admin)  at 25 Feb 04 02:00 writes

1. Pulling of files from repository. ME(MultiEdit) not support NORMAL
SCCI sequence for this, as it is supported by VS, VB, VS .NET and
others. However it is not a single system that do not implement this,
PowerBuilder have the same behavior.
So, for now you need to pull files outside ME (at least first time).
Later, when you will have on local *.mep file, you will be able get
new files automatically.
2. Adding files is simple, just select "put" command in ME
NOTE: First of all you should setup "associate directories", typing a
mapping of a local folder and CVS module.
P.S. Anyway, ME VCS integration looks _so_ bad (looks bad), that I think
better
to use any other tool, like WinCVS or Tortoise.

I'm trying to FULLY integrate with Multi-Edit..

Let me explain.
There are two particular functions that I'd like to be able to do from my
all my development applications that I'm having trouble with. They are:
1 - Collecting all my project files from the version control repository for
the first time (they exist in the repository but I don't have a local copy
of the files yet)
2 - Adding my files to version control for the first time (I have local
copies but they are not in version control yet)

This is supported by CVS Proxy in Visual Basic and Visual Studio. However,
it doesn't appear to be working in our text editor tool, Multi-Edit. All
the standard version control menu options are enabled but the "Directory of
archives..." menu option is not. I've sent their Technical Support a
message to resolve this but I thought that you might have a solution in
mind yourself.

I know you haven't heard from me in a while but I now have more time to
devote to our version control implementation. As a matter of fact, another
associate in our department has already purchased your product for use in
our department.

With that said, I'm still trying to clean up some functionality.
