How to retrieve new files with CVS SCC plug-in

( CVSSCC , VS .NET, 1.2.x, WIN 2000/XP, UNIX  )
Type: Public Status:Closed Created: 08 Jun 05 06:00 Updated: 27 Jun 05 06:00

The logs shows that each attempt to execute CVS command cause
authentication error. This means that you and your colleagues should login
on to server before any further operations. Actually plug-in have some
sort of protection from this, and each time you open project it should
prompt you for password, but seems that each time you ignore this dialog or
cancel it.
So, you can login to server in several ways:

1. At opening the project should appear password dialogue.
You should enter the correct password and press خت.

2. If this dialogue does not appear,
Open clear IDE and to choose " File/Source Control/Open From Source
Control. " The "Bind to CVS" dialog will appear. Enter the CVSROOT and
press button " Login ". Then enter the password and press خت.

To be sure that you doing right you can also press "check" button in "Bind
to CVS" dialog. You should not see any error messages.

I just added the DEBUG DLL to both developer-machines.

When I added a folder and a file inside this folder, my partner got the
error you see as Error 1 in the attachments.

Then he added a new file to one of the existing folders and I never got it,
even when he pushed all pending check-ins

Attach 1 is the error

Attach 2 is my debug file (I never got the file my partner added to one of
the existing folders)

Attach 3 is my partner's debug file (he got the error in attachment 1, when
he was trying to retrieve the folder and file I added and pushed from my
computer)

You are using PushOk CVS proxy version 1.3.2_050419.

1. Already there is newer version "PushOk CVS proxy version 1.3.4_050530".
Please download and install it.

2. If it will not help then:
Download debug dll here: http://www.pushok.com/files/PushokCVSSCC_13.zip

Unzip to overwrite existing. You will find debuglog.txt near the dll.
Send it to me for analysis.

NOTE
Please produce two log files:
1 - Addition of new folders and files to the repository
2 - 'Get latest' of the added files on the other machine.

We think you use another version than 1.2 as you write to us. This is
because 1.2 version dll is about 900kb in size, while you talking about
larger dll. So please to make things correct could you please send screen
shot of "Pushok CVS Proxy properties/About(copyrights)" page.

As soon as I put the DEBUG DLL(952 KB) I just downloaded, on the PushOk
Software\CVS Proxy folder as directed by you , the CVS inside
VisualStudio.net began to balk, I restarted the computer and I got the same
error:

Error 1(As soon as I open the VStudio)
An unspecified failure occurred while initializing the PushOk CVS Proxy
source control provider. You cannot use this provider to perform source
control operations.

Then the second error is attached as an image.

If I put the original DLL(1904 KB) back to that folder, then the system can
work again, but with the original problem we had.

When I open the documentation, it says that I am working with:
PushOK's CVS SCC Proxy plug-in.
Reference manual for version 1.2.xx

This is really annoying and I have been working on this issue for more than
16 hours.

Any other suggestion?
Second error, after I click OK in the first one  This is my local CVS folder

The fastest way to find problem is to use the debug dll.
Download it here: http://www.pushok.com/files/PushokCVSSCC_12.zip

Unzip to overwrite existing. You will find debuglog.txt near the dll.
Send it to me for analysis.

NOTE
Please produce two log files:
1 - Addition of new folders and files to the repository
2 - 'Get latest' of the added files on the other machine.

Thank you in advance.

It appears that no matter what we do, the project file does not transfer
between computers even when it is in the cvs archive (and I checked the
archive itself and it is there).

For example, if i create a new folder with a file in it and I push all the
pending check ins to the CVS repository, the other guy will never get this
new folder. This is happening even when I setup the whole CVS project again
and the XXXXweb.csproj file is included too in the CVS.

After adding of a new file in the project, you should be convinced that
project/solution files also checked in. This is easy to check in ` Pending
Checkins ` window.
If project files are not checked in VS .NET on other PC will not know that
new files are appears in project, and as result will not be able to get
them from repository.

Hi,

We are having an issue with CVS SCC plug-in. Every time one of us add a new
file to the project, the other guy is unable to get that new file
automatically, when we hit \'Get latest version (Recursive)\' option, or
any other available option we have found the File menu in Visual studio
2003, there is no way to get the new files that have been added for other
people.

Can you send me the instructions on how to retrieve new files from the CVS
repository that have been created for other programmers?

Thanks,
