This behavior configured in VS .NET. Menu Tool*Options*Source
Control*General*......... when checked-in items are edited. Choose
there "Checkout automatically".

I am able to edit a code file in Visual Studio .Net without being prompted
to check out the file. I can manually check it out, but was wondering why
I was not being prompted to check out the file. This only started to
happen after I went from a trial copy to a licensed copy. Thanks for your
help.
