( CVSSCC )
Type: Public Status:Closed Created: 20 May 04 05:00 Updated: 24 May 04 05:00

We make this patch in the stable version. You can download it. New version
is 1.2.040524
--> Gerald Skerbitz (user)  at 21 May 04 05:00 writes

Thank You!
The problem goes away when I install the debug version at
http://www.pushok.com/files/PushokCVSSCC.zip.
Powerbuilder still works too!

Will it continue writing to the debuglog.txt?

It seems to be this may be result of last version changes. We add
ability to manage tags and branches fro IDE via "Advanced options" for
"Get from source control".
http://www.pushok.com/help/cvsscc/index.php?redirect=adv_tagsbranches.htm
The mechanics of this is that IDE ask us to show advanced option
dialog and accept the pointer to our structure. Later this structure
should be passed by IDE into specific IDE function.
However some IDE (like Rational Rose and so on, i.e. not MS IDE) some
how miss this functionality, and what is more bad can supply some
"junk" pointer as the pointer for advanced options.
So it seems that we should implement some functionality for such "bad"
IDE's, and check wether they really pass what we supply or not. Some
days ago we make this fix for Rational Rose, but till now I not know
result.
So please download this this debug version of dll:
http://www.pushok.com/files/PushokCVSSCC.zip
Replace existing one with this, try to repeat problem and send back to
me "debuglog.txt" file that you will find near the dll if you still
will have errors. This dll have the fix for mentioned problem. Anyway
let me know result.

PushOk:

We are a small shop (6 developers and couple of DBAs) running
Powerbuilder8 and Quest SQL Navigator. We would dearly love to use the CVS
SCC proxy for our version control needs. We have been very successful in
our testing with Powerbuilder (cool!) , but we are stuck getting it working
with SQL Navigator. http://www.quest.com/sql_navigator/.

Navigator integrates with the Oracle database to do check-in and check-out
but it can use SCC for actual version control.

Navigator creates the repository on the CVS server just fine when it
exports the database objects to version control.

The problem is that when Navigator goes to check an object (like a package)
OUT of version control, it gives an error about the tag not being legal.

[tag aborted]: tag `SIEMSS1.SMP_MAINTENANCE.PSK' must not contain the
characters `$,.:;@'

SIEMSS1 is the Oracle schema/username
PSK is what extension Navigator's version control is adding to an object of
the type "package".

Is this something we can deal with? What in SCC triggers creating a "tag"
in CVS?

We're not version control experts, but we really like the idea of using CVS
for this as we think it can be leveraged quite widely.

Please let me know if this is something that can be solved or if I can
clarify at all.

If this works, we'll likely purchase licenses for all our developers,
Gerry
