CVS Proxy and InstallShield 7 Developer

( CVSSCC )
Type: Public Status:Closed Created: 05 Apr 04 04:00 Updated: 08 Apr 04 04:00

I not see nothing bad, except that some modules seems to be
unaccessible for proxy. Lets see:
E:\Apps\cvsnt\cvs.exe -z 1 -w -n -d ":pserver:luigi@CVS:/cvs" checkout
"RD/5 - Progetti/Ik-DFD/Sorgenti/windows/Setup"
cvs server: cannot open CVS/Entries for reading: No such file or directory
cvs server: cannot open CVS/Entries for reading: No such file or directory
cvs server: nothing known about RD/5 -
Progetti/Ik-DFD/Sorgenti/windows/Setup
This command tries to check existence of this module. However CVS
returns "nothing known about RD/5 -
Progetti/Ik-DFD/Sorgenti/windows/Setup"
I am interest is this module really exist in your repository, and if
exist how cvs command line should look to retrieve this module. May be
'-' sign should be replaced somehow or something similar.
If you can help me with this I will appreciate this.
Just for now, you also can check work of IS7 with some test
repository, where module names are more simplified (no spaces, not
specific signs '-','+')

Yes, it looks to work this way.
Done, you will find the file attached here - although it carries a lot of
information about my repository :-)
What I did:
1) Opened an Installshield project
2) Selected Add to Source Control from its SCC menu
3) Set the module name and pressed "Create" because the last folder
(Setup) did not exist in the repository (CVS Proxy created the folder)
4) When I pressed OK, I got the error the folder (Vega) created by
Installshield did not exist in the repository.
Regards, and thank you for the prompt reply.

It is seems that InstalShield work similar to PowerBuilder. It also do
not work directly on files connected to SourceControl. It extract them
from its binary files, and then add to Source Control.
PB not work with our plugin, without some specific configuration of
plug-in and PB itself. I think that similar thing can be for IS.
So, if you have some time, and interesting to use plug-in in your IDE
I can suggest you to help us.
Please download this debug version of dll:
http://www.pushok.com/files/PushokCVSSCC.zip
Replace exiting one with this, try to repeat problem and send back to
me "debuglog.txt" file that you will find near the dll.
This will help me to find problem, without asking you for unnecessary
questions.

I'm evalutating CVS proxy to use it with InstallShield 7 developer. I was
unable to checkin a project because CVS Proxy was not able to create
folders.

Installshield has its own way to store a project in a VCS tool: wheb adding
a project it generates a lot of text files and some folders from its .ism
file, then add them to the repository. But CVS proxy did not handle the
folders and returned a "xxxxx folder does not exist in the repository"
error and does not add files. Moreover Installshield tells the project is
in the repository while it is not.

Should I change any CVS Proxy settings, or it can't simply handle the way
Installshield works? With VSS I had non problems, but now we have to use
CVS due to Linux and FreeBSD support.

Thank you and regards
