Can't tag (label) the repository

( CVSSCC )
Type: Public Status:Closed Created: 24 Mar 05 03:00 Updated: 24 Mar 05 03:00

You are right - I'm looking for cvs tag, not cvs rtag. I just want to
be able to get to a state that I was in when I tagged and that
functionaltiy is enough. Thanks.

CVS allows to do two things:
1. Tags sources _inside_ repository. Does not matter which files
pulled to local drive.
2. Tags local sources. This way only files that currently exist on
local disk will be tagged.
Plug-in allows to make last. The difference is that you can have some
sources in repository that not pulled to local drive. For example they
not need or outdated. The "cvs rtag" can apply tag to the, while
plug-in using "cvs tag" cannot do this.
Usually tag the local copy is enough. Since making tag you just need
to be sure that later you can get this tag again.
Also "cvs rtag" can tag entire folder in repository (with subfolders),
while "cvs tag" only specific files.
And the last, if this explanation just confuse you, forget it. The
difference between "cvs tag" and "cvs rtag" is not so important if you
are not "mega guru" in CVS.

You say no, but the functionality is there? I don't understand why you say
no?
--> Andy Czerwonka (user)  at 24 Mar 05 03:00 writes

I finally found it in the docs - apologies for the ticket. The
documentation need to be updates as it works a little differently.
--> Igor Pushkov (admin)  at 24 Mar 05 03:00 writes

No. Only possible to tag working copy. We believe that tagging the
repository functionality is outside plug-in functions.

Is there a way to tag the repository using the plugin?
