"Cannot rename file" Permission denied error when checking-in

( CVSSCC , VS .NET, 1.2.040528, WIN 2000/XP, CVS NT 2.0.x  )
Type: Public Status:Closed Created: 11 Nov 04 11:00 Updated: 18 Nov 04 11:00
--> Hrair Mekhsian (user)  at 18 Nov 04 11:00 writes

I think it's okay now.
It still displayed the error after I installed the newer CVS version, but
then I manually removed the read-only flag of the files in question and it
started working.
I will open a new ticket if the problem returns. Thank you for your help.
H.

Hi again,
I will try to change to your supported version and see if that fixes the
problem and report here with my findings.
Thanks for your help!

Well, this probably just the bug of CVS NT server. We recommend to use
the version that we test (see http://www.pushok.com/soft_cvs_nt.php):
http://www.pushok.com/files/soft/cvsnt-2.0.38.exe
http://www.pushok.com/files/soft/cvsnt-2.0.51a.exe
--> Hrair Mekhsian (user)  at 11 Nov 04 11:00 writes

2.0.26

Everything was working great with only one user using CVSSCC and CVS in
general.

This is what happened:

A second user (User B) has checked out the project User A was using.

User B checks out a file, makes a change, checks in. No problem.

User A checks out same file, makes another change, tries to check in and
gets the following error:

cvs [server aborted]: cannot rename file
F:/cvsroot/SMSWe....................................../,filename.aspx.cs
to
F:/cvsroot/SMSWe....................................../filename.aspx.cs,v :
Permission denied

Both users are using SSPI authentication. They are both domain
administrators. I have made sure that USER A has full control over entire
CVSROOT folders.

CVS server is on Windows 2003.
USER A is on Windows 2000.
USER B is on Windows XP.

Any ideas?

H.
