This is fixed in RC2, which is released today.
--> caleb mumford (user)  at 14 Mar 05 03:00 writes

I tested 1.2 and confirm that the bug was not there in 1.2.
Please let me know when this introduced bug is fixed for 2.0.
Thanks,
Caleb Mumford

We can reproduce this bug. It is exist in version 1.3RC1 and 2.0RC1.
However all works in 1.2. We fix the RC1 version ASAP.

I posted a lot more information to the Ticket. Please respond as the
outcome
will determine whether or not we license your CVS Proxy product for several
of our developers.

To help you see the issue, I've created a very simple BUG recreation
sample. Please confirm the bug by following the recreation steps I'm
attaching.
Binary File Bug Duplication Steps.

Another detail:

Doing a right click "check-out" from the Solution Explorer does not get the
full binary file (stays at 1K). I have to go through the History Dialogue,
highlight the most current version, and do a "Get(overwrite)" from the
History Dialogue or the binary file will not come down.
--> caleb mumford (user)  at 10 Mar 05 03:00 writes

Very strange...I went to view the history for one of the binary files and
it already showed as being of type "Binary". I then did a "Get(overwrite)"
from the History dialogue...this prompted a "check-out"...and the binary
file came down. I didn't have to re-add the file or do anything else. I
have several binary files in my solution and would rather not do this for
each one. Just doing a "Get Latest Version" does not get the entire binary
file (it remains only 1K size.

Any ideas as to why the plugin is doing this? I want the initial "Open from
Source Control" to get the entire solution with all binary files.

Thank you much,

Caleb

I'll try changing the file type from the history dialog. If it is supposed
to automatically handle then something is wrong. When I do a new "Get" from
the WinCVS client the binary files work fine. It is definetly something
with the plug-in. It is totally ignoring the plug-in options. Could it be
because 2.0 is still beta?
--> Igor Pushkov (admin)  at 10 Mar 05 03:00 writes

1. Plug-in used widely for last two years and I not see any grounds
that something can wrong there in handling of binary files.
2. Using plug-in there are three thing regarding file types:
i. If nothing is configured plug-in use automatic logic to determine
the file type. This work in 95% of cases.
ii. You can configure cvswrapers file on server side.
iii. You can configure the plug-in options
The ideal solution is just do nothing and use automatic recognition.
If it not work for some files you can either configure the cvswraperrs
either change file type explicitly for this file. This can be done
from history dilalog.
Please also note, that required to make specific actions to change
file type for already added file. In other words if you add file, and
then put it into cvswrappers as binary nothing will happens. You
should explicitly change it type or cleanup repository and add it
again.

We are development shop and we frequently collaborate with our clients in
our coding efforts. I am evaluating CVSSCC to see if it is an appropriate
solution to our remote collaboration needs.

I have marked .exe and .dll files as binaries in the CVSNT Server
"cvswrappers" config file...and in the CVS Proxy NT | Configure Plugin
settings for the CVSSCC Proxy. However, When I get the project from cvs it
pulls the binary files and drops their content (they are only 1K in size).

What else do I have to do to get the VS.NET CVS Proxy to not mess up the
binary files?

Thanks for your help.
